WHO IS JESUS?

The questions we like to ask about God are endless: “Is God real?” “Is what we know about Him really true?” and “What does He have to do with my life?” list just a few.

The Bible has all the answer for every question about God, but can only be understood by those who have Him living in them because it is God’s Spirit who teaches and reveals himself to us. So then who is Jesus?

Jesus commends the Peter’s confession of Him as “the Messiah, the Son of the Living God” (Matthew 16:16), because Jesus knew that who He is – and could be to us – has the power to change our lives. Jesus is so unique because two worlds collide in him: heaven and earth, the divine and the human.

C.S. Lewis, a well-known Christian author, wrote of Jesus,
“Either this man was, and is, the son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God, but let us not come with any patronising nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.”

Some might say that Jesus does not exist but this is not true even none religious history states that he was a real man who walked on this earth. It’s whether you believe He is the Son of God and whether you believe Jesus’ name is the name above all names, that’s where the power of what He did comes into play in your life. He came to heal us, free us and bring Salvation to us. Salvation from ourselves, from the things we have done and the things we are going to do that separates us from God.

God wants to reconcile us to Him he wants His children back so He sent His own son to pay the price for the sin that separates us from Him. You might say I’m not a sinner, but the bible says we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. We were born into it thanks to the fall of Adam and Eve. If you look around you can see how this world is full of it. But God, sent Christ to separate sin from us and give us the life we deserve and restore us to the original plan where we can approach the throne of grace and His arms are wide open. Jesus didn’t come to start a new religion He came for relationship and to bring the Kingdom of Heaven into us were all things are possible to those who believe. See Jesus’ star-breathing, storm-calming, miracle-working power is second to none. Yet, He is also the human Jesus, the personal friend who knows what we are going through and cares about us. That’s why the Bible also calls Him “Immanuel”, God with us.

For this is how much God loved the world—he gave his one and only, unique Son as a gift. So now everyone who believes in him will never perish but experience everlasting life.
John 3:16-17 TPT

DOES JESUS CARE?

Does Jesus care about you? Yes, He does!
How do we know this?

Often we disqualify ourselves from God’s love because of our history, our failures and our shortcomings. Sin has separated us from God and we can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. See Jesus knows what you are going through, He lived here; He was tempted by everything you have been through but never sinned. He has and is the answer for that problem.

So how can we accept what we have not earned? The Bible says that nothing in all of creation can separate us from the Love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. And to accept God’s love is to trust His patient, forgiving and gracious stance towards us. Only He has the power to free us from guilt, shame and condemnation, to give us a life of fullness. All we have to do is turn to Him.

HOW DO I GET A NEW LIFE?

To be made whole, or to be saved, is to submit to God and His plans and purpose for our lives. It is a turning from our old ways and turning to Jesus, to ask Him for forgiveness from our sins and to give us new life in Him.

Romans 10:9 says: “If you declare with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Salvation is God’s free gift to us and we become His children.

It is an irrevocable adoption into the family of God and it is an empowerment to live life wholly and fully with the purpose of reflecting God to the rest of His creation.

If you are not sure whether you are right with God or you know in fact that you need Jesus in your life, you can choose to follow Him right now by praying a prayer of surrender to Jesus. It’s not the prayer that saves but ‘believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead’ and that He is your only Lord and Saviour. Pray:

Jesus I believe you are Lord. I believe that You died and rose again for me. Today I choose to die and rise again a new creation free from my past and sin. I ask for forgiveness and deliverance. Holy Spirit come upon me and live inside of me; teach me, direct me and empower me to live a life for Jesus. Take my life and do what you will with it. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen

Congratulations! The Bible says that the whole of Heaven stops and rejoices when one person gives their life to Jesus. That is God, Jesus, all the angels and every person that has gone before you are having a party in heaven for the choice you just made. To pray these words with a surrendered heart to Jesus is the beginning of the most important voyage you will ever embark on: the journey to follow Jesus.
